Kelvin Davies, Ph.D.
Chairman
Dr. Davies is the James E. Birren Chair in Gerontology and is a Professor of Molecular & Computational Biology and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Southern California. He obtained a B.Ed. in General Science from Liverpool & Lancaster Universities, a B.S. and M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics from the University of Wisconsin and a C.Phil. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Physiology from Berkeley. Professor Davies' research centers on the role of free radicals and oxidative stress in biology.
Benjamin Chain, Ph.D.
Prof. Chain has a B.A. in Natural Sciences and a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Cambridge. Professor Chain obtained his postdoctoral training at the Sloan Kettering Institute in New York and in the Department of Zoology at University College. Before assuming his present position as Professor of Immunology at University College London, Professor Chain held the positions of Senior Lecturer, Department of Biology and then Immunology and Reader in Immunology, Department of Immunology, both at University College, London.
Cheryl Fitzer-Attas, Ph.D.
Dr. Fitzer-Attas has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board since its formation in April 2006. Currently, Dr. Fitzer-Attas is Associate Director of Scientific Affairs in the Global Marketing Division for Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd. After
leaving academia in 1998, Dr. Fitzer-Attas has held varied positions in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors including Senior Scientist at Bio-Technology General (Israel) Ltd. (now Savient Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) from 1998 to 2001, and Director of Biological Research promoted later to Vice President Research & Development at Mindset BioPharmaceuticals Ltd. from 2001 to 2004. Dr. Fitzer-Attas received her Ph.D. in Biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science.
Zelig Eshhar, Ph.D.
Prof. Eshhar obtained his B.Sc. in Biochemistry and Microbiology and his M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the Hebrew University, and his Ph.D. in the Department of Immunology from the Weizmann Institute of Science. He was a Research Fellow in the Department of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and in the Department of Chemical Immunology at the Weizmann Institute in Israel. Prof. Eshhar has held several positions at the Weizmann Institute, most recently Chairman of the Department of Immunology. Prof. Eshhar serves on several editorial boards, including Cancer Gene Therapy, Human Gene Therapy, Gene Therapy, Expert Opinion on Therapeutics, European Journal of Immunology and the Journal of Gene Medicine.
Alfred L. Goldberg, Ph.D.
Prof. Goldberg obtained his Ph.D. in Physiology at Harvard University. He has held academic positions in numerous institutes, including Harvard Medical School, Radcliffe College, University of California-Berkeley, Institute Pasteur and University of Paris. Prof. Goldberg served on numerous advisory boards of companies, including Biogen, Tanox, ProScript, Mindset BioPharmaceuticals, Point Therapeutics and the Michael J. Fox Foundation. He has served on many editorial boards, including the Journal of Biological Chemistry, the New England Journal of Medicine and Basic and Applied Myology.
Donald L. Price, M.D.
Prof. Price obtained a B.A. in English Literature from Wesleyan University and an M.D. from Albany Medical School, Union University. He was Assistant Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School, Director Neuropathology Laboratory at Boston City Hospital and Director of the Division of Neuropathology and Associate Professor of the Departments of Pathology and Neurology at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute. Since 1978, Prof. Price has been Professor of the Departments of Pathology Neurology and Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins, where he was the founding director of the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
