H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute Our on-going collaboration with Dr. Alan F. List, a renowned expert in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), is focused on the evaluation of the potential of OXIGON™ in the treatment of MDS. MDS comprise a heterogeneous set of disorders that originate from stem cell malignancies and bone marrow failure. Disease development leads to transfusion dependence, high risk of infection and hemorrhage, and likelihood of transformation to acute myeloid leukemia. MDS affects mainly individuals between 58 and 75 years of age. It is estimated that 20,000 to 25,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States.
New York University School of Medicine We are collaborating with research scientists at New York University School of Medicine to develop immunotherapies for various diseases characterized by protein aggregation and deposition. These include immunotherapies that target pathological tau aggregates in Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia, therapeutic vaccines to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes, immunotherapy approaches for Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease, as well as vaccines for the prevention of prion diseases.
